During the dark and cold days of January, the Northern Roots Forum on Regenerative Agriculture brought warmth, inspiration, and collaboration to the farming community. Spanning two days, the forum gathered hundreds of farmers, researchers, and agronomists to share knowledge, experiences, and practical solutions for building resilient agricultural systems.
A highlight of the event was the Soil Ecology Workgroup’s workshop, “How to Build On-Farm Trials Successfully,” which brought scientific light to the forum. The session attracted strong interest and sparked lively, thoughtful discussions among participants.
Farmers and researchers engaged in open dialogue about the challenges and opportunities of on-farm trials, focusing on what is needed to generate more accurate, reliable, and meaningful results under real farming conditions. The exchange of ideas reflected a shared commitment to improving research practices and strengthening collaboration between science and practice.
The workshop was a clear success, underscoring the value of farmer-led experimentation and peer learning. The Soil Ecology Workgroup would like to thank everyone who participated and contributed to the vibrant discussions, and looks forward to welcoming participants again at the next Soil Ecology workshop.
