This year, 40,192 people visited the fair, and we were one of the fair\u2019s 448 exhibitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first time, the soil ecology team had a booth at the fair to share information about soil life and health. Fair visitors could explore an earthworm terrarium, observe earthworms burrowing through soil, and listen to the sounds they make. They could also view arbuscular mycorrhizae in plant roots, as well as springtails and soil mites under a microscope. Additionally, visitors could touch and observe the differences between sandy soil, the leached agricultural soil most common in Estonia, and peat soil. Farmers visiting our booth could also sign up for field trials as part of the FunFarm project, learn about the services offered by the Estonian Environmental Observatory, and discuss topics related to environmental data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What we offered at our booth sparked a lot of interest among participants; visitors ranged from children to seniors and from farmers to city dwellers. People came just to check out the earthworms as well as with specific questions about soil life.
